Wanna join the parade?
All it takes is a sea-themed costume (think mermaids, pirates, tropical fish, sea monsters...), a few marching bands, some fun clowns and floats, fire engines, and a walk to the town beach, and there you have it - a fun way to spend a Sunday afternoon! Because honestly, doesn't everybody love a parade?
Don't have a costume? No problem....
Meet our Parade Grand Marshal - Al Southwick
Al is a humble guy and not much for the spotlight, but when asked if he'd be willing to be this year's Grand Marshall he said he'd be happy to - anything for the town he loves. Al has been the North Kingstown Recreation Department Manager for a whole lotta years, and it seems that no matter who you talk to in town, they all have story about Al and his dedication to providing fun all the town's children.
Be sure to wave and say hello to Al as he leads the parade beginning at noon - and after the parade stop by the festival INFO table and thank him for all the years he's been a part of children's memories here in North Kingstown! (And don't forget to ask him to show you his Merman of Wickford picture in our 2019 calendars we'll have for sale!)
Meet our 2018 King Quahog - Jody King
Jody is a local Rhode Island quahogger from way back. If you've ever enjoyed stuffies or chowder in our little state, there's a good chance Jody was the guy who caught them for you.
Jody will be riding in a convertible leading off our Sea Creature Parade so be sure to say hello as he drives by - he'll be the guy in the crown and sash with the quahog rake septor!
Our parade is sponsored once again by our friends at Centreville Bank
